In 1969 it was known as the Faireyplane. Abdul Smith had done a lot of work refurbishing it during the previous winter. It was great fun on a smooth surface, which didn't occur very often. Sastrugi were a nightmare, and it steered a bit like a hovercraft - i.e. nothing seemed to happen for a LONG time. I never drove it, but was a very scared passenger a few times.
