The cross marking the fatal crevasse accident of 12 October 1965

The cross marking the 1965 crevasse accident
The cross erected beside the crevasse where Jeremy Bailey, Doc John Wilson and Dai Wild lost their lives, and where Geoff Lovegrove led a brief service in their memory on 26th October 1965. In the distance are the mountains of Vestfjella, where they were heading. The following season an engraved memorial plaque was placed on Pyramid Rock. See note by Tony Haynes. See also the memorial cairn on base.
