An event to mark 70 years from the
founding of the base
at Halley Bay, Antarctica, on 6th January 1956 by the Royal Society International Geophysical Year Expedition,
following on from the successful 50th (Z-50) and 60th (Z-60)
anniversary celebrations.

The event will have three strands:
- Reunion of people who have lived at, visited, or have a connection with or interest in the station, and some of its history.
- Current and future science at the station, enabled by its unique location.
- The engineering, technology and logistics which make
the science possible.
- Gala dinner with VIP guest speaker Director of BAS Professor Dame Jane Francis.
- Specialist speakers.
- Presentations including archive footage and Halley 6 automation.
- Exhibition of books, t-shirts, mid-winters gifts and other memorabilia items.
