First Photograph - Halley Bay 6th January 1956

This is the first photograph ever taken on the Caird Coast ice shelf at the spot that was to become the Halley station. It is of the three-man reconnaissance party taken on 6 January 1956 when they had just decided this was to be the location for the IGYE hut to be built. [10 February 2016]
